Need some patriotic food inspiration? How about making these red, white, and blue dipped Oreos? They are a great make-ahead treat and a fun addition to your Fourth of July dessert spread.
Ingredients
- 12-ounce package red candy melts
- 12-ounce package white candy melts
- 12-ounce package blue candy melts
- 3-ounce bag of Oreo minis*
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles
Before you begin, make sure to have on hand a Wilton Silicone 24 Square Candy Mold. Each square yields a 1 and 1/2 inch square treat. You can get this mold online.
Place 1/2 bag each of the red, white, and blue candy melts into a microwave safe dish. Place the red candy melts into the microwave and process for about 1 minute at 50% power. Stir the candy melts then place in the microwave for another minute. Stir again. If they are not totally melted, return to the microwave for 30 second intervals until thoroughly smooth and melted. Repeat this process with the white candy melts. Place one teaspoon of the red candy melts into each of the 24 squares, then place 1 teaspoon of the white candy melts on top.
Place one Oreo mini into each of the squares and press down until it almost touches the bottom of the square. Place the candy mold into the refrigerator. Melt the blue candy melts in the microwave per the previous directions. Remove the candy mold from the fridge when the Oreos are set in the melts. Place one teaspoon of the blue melts on top of each Oreo and spread over the top and sides to cover the Oreo and reach down the sides to meet the red and white melts. Garnish with sprinkles. Place in the fridge to set. Can make a week or two in advance.

Note
*Each 3-ounce bag of Oreo minis has 24+ Oreos, but I buy 2 bags to make sure each cookie is evenly centered.
